Alarm.com

I'm the UX lead at Alarm.com, a home security and automation company. I've worked on over 20 different products across 5+ product teams and over 100 people amazingly talented across iOS, Android, Apple Watch, iPad and web.

Integrating a suite of home automation devices into a single product is not easy task, but I've stretched my design and product thinking muscles more than I ever thought was possible. I've worked on onboarding, user management, video, scheduling and calendar UI, billing, music and video integrations, and our enterprise offering.

Hola! I'm Luis, and I love solving problems.

I'm a product designer living in Washington DC, I'm interested in solving digital and real-world problems, I'm interested in all things design thinking, design leadership, management, behavior design and data analytics, and how design help make our lives better.

My career started me off as a software engineer, but growing up I think I always had a latent interest in design. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon, my career took me into user experience and product design, and over time I've developed a deeper interest in owning the entire lifecycle of the product, and lately I've been shifting more towards design management and leadership.

🇬🇹I'm also from Guatemala! 🇬🇹

My career started me off as a software engineer, but growing up I think I always had a latent interest in design. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon, my career took me into user experience and product design, and over time I've developed a deeper interest in owning the entire lifecycle of the product, and design leadership and management.

I moved to the Washington DC in 2014, and since then I've been helping out at Alarm.com create the future of home automation. I was the second design hire and now I lead the design team. I'm very proud of the work my team and I have created (this is the design system the team has put together). I've introduced jobs-to-be-done thinking, user research, better collaboration between design, product management and software engineering; all with with design thinking. This portfolio is a curated collection of the work I've done over the past few years.

Say hi,

Luis
